Term: Chlorinating

The act of using chlorine (bleach) to render your rubber less active. It will become harder, less stretchy, and very very shiny. According to Peter Rys Peter Rys, this is because the chlorine attaches itself to the structure of the polyisoprene. What it is generally used for is to make rubber attire easier to get into, because it when chlorinated looses most of its inherent tackiness, and thus does not stick to your skin.
